ScarJo landed the cover of ELLE UK this month and manages to bring her sexy ‘A’ game back for the cover in which she dons a Victoria Beckham Spring 2013 dress and Manolo Blahnik for Victoria Beckham peep-toe booties

The editorial, shot against only a simple studio backdrop at MILK Studios in NYC , showcases the carefree, tousle haired bombshell in Spring 2013 pieces from the likes of Tom Ford, Jonathan Saunders and Burberry Prorsum. I definitely like the under styled, simple looks that were pulled together which enabled Scarlett’s beauty to be the main focus.

In the accompanying article Scarlett dishes on her former marriage to Ryan Reynolds, kids and her sex symbol status:

On her former marriage to Ryan Reynolds:

“I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually. But it is different. It’s hard to put into words. To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn’t mean you have to be married… I never think about marriage. Is that weird? The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, ‘Would I get married again?’”

On having kids:

“It’s really not important to me. It has no relevance to me right now. I’m not having kids anytime soon, I’m in a nice relationship, I’m working a lot, and, like I said, it’s not important to me.”

On her sex symbol status:

“I think any woman who is curvy and wears a gown to an event is, like, super sexualized. I mean, at the time I was 18, 19. I was young. I’ve always been curvy. It runs in the family. Throw on an evening frock and it’s like all of a sudden you have boobs and everyone is like: ‘bombshell!’ Instantly it was: ‘The new Marilyn [Monroe].’”

Proving yet again that she can do no wrong and that she is most likely perfection personified, Kate Moss gifts us with four covers for the latest issue of i-D. The special issue celebrates working with the living legend for over 20 years and also gives us the ‘A-Z of Now’ . Each cover oozes glamour and embraces her flower child image and as Daniele and Iango said, ”her fragility, innocence and purity,”  all while donning pieces from spring/summer collections by the likes of Dior, Prada, Balenciaga and more.

On the collaboration of Kate and i-D, Editor-In-Chief, Creative Director and Publisher Terry Jones had this to say:

“Kate first featured on the cover of i-D in 1993. Little did we know that this impish imperfect beauty would end up an international superstar and on more i-D covers than any other! Kate’s feline, feminine fragility humanises her beauty and enables photographers and stylists to draw out her character and soul.”

Below are some images from the accompanying editorial:

Red Carpet Fashion: This weekend celebs came out in strides for the 2013 NFL Honors Awards at Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana.
There were quite a few stand out looks but ‘The Vampire Diaries’ starlet Nina Dobrev caught my attention in an adorable light blue Zuhair Murad Spring 2013 confection. The mini dress featured a nude bodice with delicate lace overlay and a poufy, flirty skirt with architectural lines and a mix of floral and geometric prints. She wisely kept the accessories to a minimum adding only a silver clutch which matched her silver Jimmy Choo heels.

From strutting the Victoria’s Secret runway, Burberry campaigns, a pretty massive Twitter following, growing mainstream popularity and now her first Vogue UK cover the goofy 20 year old has become a force to be reckoned with.
If the vibrant, high contrast cover is any indication of what is to be expected from the accompanying editorial than I am pretty excited. Cara has definitely grown on me over the past year and won me over with her colourful personality, carefree attitude and versatility.

Valentines Day Gift Guide For Men: Part 1: Jewellery Edition
Last year I received a ton of emails and messages from guys inquiring about items they have seen on my blog and advice on what to get their girlfriends and special someones for Valentines Day. This year instead of replying to you all individually I have decided to be lazy and throughout the next week make a post a day with ideas for gifts and dates.
Note: I have personally never had a boyfriend do anything for Valentines Day and I am a heavy believer in the idea that you should be thankful and appreciate anything that your significant other does for you because they don’t have to do shit all (girls are awful and do tend to expect way to much anyways).
With that said I am starting off with the most expensive thing on the list: Jewellery. Jewellery is probably the number one thing I get asked about by guys and in general I think it is one of the hardest things for guys to pick out, not because they can’t but because they think they can’t. I decided to not bother hunting around the internet for various pieces but instead simplify it and go with something that never fails: Tiffany’s. I then narrowed it down to bracelets because not all girls have their ears pierced anymore and guys tend to not like giving rings because they think they mean more than they do and are too scared to.
The three I picked are various pieces from the signature “Return to Tiffany ™” collection that all girls love. I also figured they would make a cute gift for Valentines Day because they can all be engraved. Warning: they are more expensive but I worked with the price range that I have been given when asked in the past regarding jewellery.
Return to Tiffany™ heart tag toggle bracelet $385 - In my opinion this is the most quintessential Tiffany’s bracelet. On top of having great enclosure hardware it is also a charm bracelet chain which means that for future holidays you can look into getting her one of the many charms that Tiffany’s sell. Easy, quick gift ideas for years!
Return to Tiffany™ Heart Bracelet $275 - If you are looking for a piece that she will always remember she received on Valentines Day than this piece that comes in Tiffany’s RUBEDO™ metal would be perfect. It is more of a pinkish hue and has a more delicate look.
Return to Tiffany™ bead bracelet $165 - This would be ideal for girls who have very petite wrists or are rather just petite in general as the tag charm is smaller and more delicate.
Alright, good luck guys. If you have any more questions on these items feel free to message me and keep a look out for more less bank breaking ideas throughout the week!

Elle UK has gone through a redesign and I am still unsure as to how I feel about it. The first cover produced with this ‘new look’ seems to have taken some graphic queues from the 90’s, with that said I am interested to see what the next few covers from the publication look like.

On the cover she dons Burberry Prorsum and although I love her wispy light locks I am not sure how I feel about the cover. I mean, what is going on with that jacket? Is it giving the illusion that she has 3 arms or is that just me?

In the seductive spread she wears her own designs alongside Lanvin, Hussein Chalayan, Miu Miu and Manolo Blahnik, while in the accompanying article she discusses her work ethic, running her business, a new chapter in her family, the fashion world and more.

On having a strong work ethic:

“It was never my intention to prove anybody wrong. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I don’t have to work, I need to work. All these people [her fellow fashion designers], they’ve not just been given anything. They’ve worked hard. And I’ve never been given anything either. But I have a good work ethic; David has an incredible work ethic. I want my kids to have a good work ethic. I believe you can achieve anything if you work hard enough to get it.”

On why she feels a sense of belonging in the fashion world:

“When I was on stage with the Spice Girls, I thought people were there to see the other four and not me. And when I go out with David and people take pictures I think, “They’re here to take David’s picture.”

On running a business:

“You’ve got to trust people. And because I am a control freak, sometimes that’s difficult for me, because I want to micro-manage absolutely everything. I can’t hand over. But I’m trying to do that more. It’s hard because I have such a specific vision.”

on 2013 being a new chapter in the Beckham family’s lives:

“Now David has finished playing for LA Galaxy and we are starting a new chapter in our lives; as a family we are all very excited about what lies ahead for 2013.”

On being handed a plate of yorkshire puddings to take home to her children:

“The kids are going to LOVE me when I walk in with these. You know what they say to me, because I’m not the best cook, although I try really hard? They always say to me, “Mummy, we know that the main ingredient in what you make is love.”’

Red Carpet Fashion: The 2013 SAG Awards

As always here is my list of who, in my opinion, were the best dressed of the evening at the 2013 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards last night held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Overall I felt a little underwhelmed, especially after last year’s exceptional looks from Emma Stone (In Alexander McQueen) and Zoe Saldana in (Givenchy Haute Couture). Alas there were some eye popping hues, sweet confections and couture straight off the runway from Paris. So lets get to it:

Amanda Seyfried

  • After an ethereal showing in Givenchy Couture at The Golden Globes she took a dark glamourous turn and donned a Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2013 gown unconventionally paired with a long Lorraine Schwartz pendant necklace.
Lea Michele
  • Lets get this out of the way, I am disregarding her dip dyed hair because aside from that small misstep this was one of my favourite looks of the night. Lea chose a vibrant pink Valentino Resort 2013 gown with a strapless neckline paired with Jimmy Choo pumps. I love that she forwent her usual over the top sexy alter ego for such a sweet girlie look. One thing I wanted to point out about Lea is that she always just seems to feel really good in what she is wearing and look happy in it. I think that is an important point about fashion in general, no matter what list she ends up on she just really enjoys her time on the red carpet and therefore she just always looks amazing.
Kiernan Shipka
  • This should be the standard for how all young ladies should dress for award shows. The Mad Men darling wore an Oscar de la Renta petal-pink embellished dress paired with Oscar de la Renta strappy peep toed pumps. Wavy, glossy locks and simple makeup with a natural pink lip shade completed the look.
Kerry Washington
  • Now onto my red carpet darling who wore a stunning structured white gown from Rodarte. The look was accessorized with white python Christian Louboutin ‘Batignolles’ pumps and a metallic snakeskin Judith Leiber clutch. I could go on as always about how much I adored this look and why but I will spare you this time.
Naomi Watts
  • Finally someone wearing Marchesa, I was wondering when the red carpet favourite would make an appearance and I could not be happier. The strapless silver metallic embroidered, crystal embellished, figure hugging gown fit like a glove and managed not to completely wash out the fair skinned star. Faberge jewels, Christian Louboutin satin ‘Angelique’ heels and a hot pink lip completed this glamourous look.
Nina Dobrev
  • Well, she may have showed up on the red carpet sans her best male accessory *cough* Ian Somerhalder *cough* but she still managed to stun as always. Nina, like Lea Michele chose a vibrant hued pink gown, but instead of going adorably girlie she went the sexy route donning an Elie Saab Spring 2013 confection. Accessorizing with beautiful drop earring and a Judith Leiber clutch this is another eye popping look that tops my list.
Anne Hathaway
  • After reviewing the Giambattisa Valli Spring 2013 Couture collection last week this was definitely one of my top gowns that I wanted to see straight off the runway and on the red carpet this season. The crystal embroidered corset top featured a sheer top panel and full tulle skirt. The looked was completed with Jimmy Choo ‘Kalpa’ peep toes and an Edie Parker clutch. Anne managed to look feminine while remaining sophisticated with her feathery short do’ and bright pink hued lip.
Some other stand outs of the night were Nicole Kidman in Vivienne Westwood Couture, Julianne Moore in Chanel Couture, Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta, Jayma Mays in Georges Hobeika and Jessica Chastain in custom Alexander McQueen

So do you agree or disagree with my picks? Who were your favourites of the evening?

Red Carpet Fashion: Misses that could have been Hits

Every awards show there are a few ladies who show up looking absolutely stunning and deserve to be on everyones best dressed list, but they don’t, why? This is because they make one big mistake, maybe it is the hair or makeup, or maybe a dress has been altered for them which does not quiet translate.

At this years SAG Awards there were two ladies that fit those categories respectively. Kaley Cuoco wore an adorable vibrant red, ankle length Romona Keveza Spring 2013 gown with an architectural bodice that she paired with ruby satin pumps and a ruby-stone clutch. Now let us all draw our attention upwards to her serious case of helmut hair shall we? It is terrible how much it kills such a youthful and elegant look.

Next up is Marion Cotillard who chose a Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2013 gown that was paired with black pumps and Chopard jewels. Yes, she looks lovely but sadly I had already fallen in love with the original ballooned hooped coral skirt, capped sleeved version of the gown so in my opinion the strapless midnight-blue reinterpretation is very underwhelming.

What did you think of these two looks? Did you love them or hate them?

  • Oscar de la Renta
  • Spring 2013 Campaign
  • Model: Liu Wen and Caroline Brasch Nielson
  • Photographer: Craig McDean

Replacing the faces of Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2012 campaign, Candice Swanepoel and Katryn Kruger, Wen and Nielson don 60s inspired bee-hive’s and cat eyes for the lace filled Spring 2013 campaign.

As a crazy fan of de la Renta I encourage you to take in the collection in its entirety by watching the runway show below. Enjoy.

  • Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture
  • Paris Couture Week // Spring 2013

Models clad in Margiela’s signature cloth beaded, embellished masks strutted down the runway at this seasons couture show in garments that seemed to take us on a trip throughout the past century by pulling from elements found in the 20’s, 50’s and 70’s. Unlike other labels couture shows that we have seen this season, the anonymous team behind Margiela strays from the seemingly traditional gown heavy collections.

The show began with long, tulle draped, artistically beaded column dresses reminiscent of the flapper girls that ruled during the years of prohibition and segued into fun sleeveless, collared, shorter frocks. The design team then took a sharp turn and paraded vibrated, tropical feathered tops, foil like ruffles and fun electric florals. The show wrapped with pongee silk coats with metallic orange, blue, yellow and silver wrappers sewn in, definitely something that front row spectators Raf Simons, Nicola Formichetti and Kanye West probably had their eyes on.

Overall many people seem to have disliked this collection saying it was ‘uninspired’ and ‘messy’. Although it did not entirely live up to my expatiations for a couture collection I do feel that there were many stand out looks that I could see the likes of Zoe Saldana and Michelle Williams donning on the red carpet.

What did you think of Maison Martin Margiela’s Haute Couture offerings this season? Was it a hit or a miss?

  • Valentino Haute Couture
  • Paris Couture Week // Spring 2013

When I was very young I remember the first time I turned on Fashion Television the first runway show I ever saw on the show was a special anniversary collection celebrating Valentino Garavani and his iconic ‘Valentino Red’. For years I would refer to deep lipstick red hues as ‘Valentino Red’ and I would feel instantly like I was much more sophisticated than my friends. At the time in my mind there was nothing more ladylike than a Valentino creation and to this day whenever I see one of his gowns sashaying down the runway it feels magical. The collections always managed to exude an effortless, light, ethereal elegance that not many other labels of this calibre have been able to quite capture. It is this reason that I most look forward to seeing the Valentino Haute Couture show as we are delivered plenty of gowns to satisfy our visual appetites and feed our imaginations.

This season designers at the helm, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri have delivered yet another collection consisting of ball and red carpet worthy gowns and pretty little dresses that woman around the world may only dream of wearing.

Above I posted exclusively gowns for my own pleasure but I encourage you to view the collection in its entirety here.
