  • Paris Fashion Week Fall 2012

Aside from the covetable clothes, Chanel has always been known for its over the top elaborate sets. Over the past year we have seen Karl Lagerfeld transform various venues and transport us into another world whether it be a trip under the sea, a flight care of Chanel airways or a fancy dinner at an Indian palace. As expected the fall 2012 season was no exception as guests were treated to a dramatic set full of over oversized ombre crystals sporadically yet systematically cracking through the runway floor.

The set’s theme was echoed throughout the collection on everything from the shoes, belts, purses and coats to even the models icy eyebrows which were artistically crafted by key makeup artist, Peter Phillips. The hand crafted brows that retail for 400 euros per pair were created using crystals and minerals and were the distinguishing feature on the models faces which were left nude and looked amazingly fresh and clean.

As seen in many collections this season, once again oversized coats were prevalent. Draped dresses were layered over cigarette pants which accompanied almost every look. Some other stand out pieces were patterned knits typical of fall/winter and the glamorous looks that closed the show which were heavily embellished with feathers and other fun glittery accents. Looks were completed by heavy metal stone and mineral adorned necklaces and collars as well as Lucite heeled shoes and elbow length gloves. Overall another stunning collection by Karl Lagerfeld.

Oh by the way, how adorable was little Hudson Kroenig walking the runway with a little Chanel quilted bag?

  • Spring 2012 Haute Couture Week in Paris

Paris Haute Couture week is underway this week and a select audience was treated to Karl Lagerfeld’s first class flight where the likes of Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Kasia Struss played the roll of ultra glamourous stewardesses. Karl’s plane also featured a cockpit from were he emerged at the end of the show as well as emergency exits and a bar cart.

Passengers such as Vanessa ParadisDaphne Guinness and Cameron Diaz boarded the faux luxury airline, took their seats and were treated to an array of designs that fit right in with the theme at hand. Sequin dresses, jeweled tights and ruche detailing were plentiful while dark shades of blue coated many of the drop waisted garments. One thing I was definitely not along for the ride with? The elaborate punk hair. For his spring 2012 collection for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld had paired his ornate Indian inspired deigns alongside dreadlocked up do’s and somehow it work so well. For me the hair this time around just did not fit the bill and distracted too much from the clothes.

The opulent sets for Chanel’s spring, pre-fall and now haute couture 2012 shows have been so over the top and amazing that I simply cannot wait to see what Karl has up his perfectly tailored sleeves for the fall 2012 show.

Outfitted in Chanel from head to toe this rock and roll inspired shoot manages to remain elegant while still achieving its grungy goal. I love seeing the traditional and classic Chanel pieces thrown into a completely different vibe.

  • Pre-Fall 2012

Yesterday at the Grand Palais in Paris the Paris-Bombay-themed collection inspired Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 runway show treated guests to an elaborate display with a banquet complete with champagne, jewels, colours and fabrics of India. The delicately detailed garments were juxtaposed dread locked updos and nose rings for a high contrast. The updos were adorned by jewel encrusted head pieces and complimented by impossibly stunning diamond tear-drop earrings. Chanel tradition with a much loved twist.

So, Karl, if pink is the navy blue of India, what’s the navy blue of Chanel? He thought for a nanosecond. “Black. No. Black and ivory.” (vogue.com)

Not going to lie though, those white boots are insanely hideous.

To me Lindsey is always such a young, quirky, whimsical darling, so when I see her in editorials like this one I remember why I adore her so much in the first place. Wearing some stand out garments from Derek Lam, Thakoon and Prabal Gurung Lindsey looks more the part of a quirky, whimsical adult. This editorial by far is on of my favorites that she has been in and that styling has left me with some great outfit inspirations!
