Red Carpet Fashion: This past Saturday evening in L.A., Ginnifer Goodwin hit the LACMA Art + Film Gala to honour Ed Ruscha and Stanley Kubrick wearing one of my favourite looks from Gucci’s Fall 2012 collection.
The blousy sheer top with a keyhole illusion panel featured a stunning feathered skirt with a velvet waistband. As for her hair and makeup she kept it simple opting for a more natural, fresh faced look and clean side swept do.

This may be photoshopped to hell but Leva looks the definition of expensive luxury in a selection of fur’s from Fendi’s fall 2012 collection.

  • Oscar de la Renta
  • Fall 2012 Campaign
  • Model: Candice Swanepoel and Katryn Kruger
  • Photographer: Craig McDean
  • Stylist: Alex White

I adore Candice and I have loved what I have seen from Katryn but I am not sure how I feel about the South African beauties being cast together. They each look lovely, I mean how could they not in such stunning designs? But I am unsure about them being cast together and how they really mesh in the images. Aside from that I think for the first campaign to not feature Karlie Kloss in five seasons looks pretty spectacular. I fell in love with the pastel and jewel screen garments when I first saw them sashay down the runway in February and I must say that I love them just as much today.

Oscar, you can do no wrong.

By the way, I encourage you to click play below if you have not seen the collection in full on the runway and to click here if you want to see me previously over gushing about my true love, Oscar.

  • Elie Saab
  • Fall 2012 Campaign
  • Model: Karlie Kloss
  • Photographer: Glen Luchford
  • Stylist: Spohia Neophitou-Apostolou

I am so glad that Karlie is back again giving good face for Elie Saab for the second time. Photographer Glen Luchford has Karlie take on the New York City streets at night which make for a perfect backdrop for such powerfully beautiful designs.

Here is a behind the scenes look at the campaign shoot:

From the front row at various fashion weeks around the globe to the inspiration for Mulberry’s latest must have bag, songstress Lana Del Rey is quickly taking over the fashion world. After recently signing with Next Model Management her latest acquisition is an international campaign with H&M. The self dubbed “Self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra“ will lend her signature pout to the Fall 2012 ads that will debut this coming week. Photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s images and film have been described by H&M creative director Donald Schneider as “very L.A. noir”. Chloe Bowers, the Public Relations Manager at H&M stated,

“we were looking for a style icon and singer to model our fall collection and so Lana Del Rey was the perfect choice. The them of the campaign is a modern and feminine woman with a soft attitude. Curves and waist are important in autumn’s silhouette with a focus on knitwear and tweed. The colors include powder tones and accessories in wine red.”

In the meantime while we wait for the campaign in its entirety have a listen to the Fred Falke remix of her latest hit ‘National Anthem’

Red Carpet Fashion: Overall I found the 2012 MTV Movie Awards rather disappointing when it came to the ladies fashion choices. Everything was a bit boring and dull and I always expect to see fun daring looks on even the shyest of fashionistas. However, as always, my dear Emma Stone did not let me down. I can always count on her to show up with flawless hair and makeup and a fun outfit no matter the event.
For the event she chose a slightly modified black-and-ivory Martin Grant Fall 2012 number with a fun bustier peplum top and streamlined bubble skirt. She paired her edgy frock with a patent leather Fendi clutch and two toned nude and black Brian Atwood ‘Grace’  statement pumps.
Did anyone watch her accept the first ‘Trailblazer’ Award and just beam with pride like me?

  • Pink Tartan
  • Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2012

When Toronto Fashion Week rolls around there are always a few designers collections whose shows I look forward to attending above all others. Some of these including Chloé comme Parris, David Dixon, Lucian Matis and as noted above, Pink Tartan by Kim Newport-Mimran.

As expect, Kim has delivered yet another collection fit for the Canadian climate full of lush, over the top furs, this time in shades of forest green, ruby, blush and black. Long, loose silk trousers and cigarette pants were paired with trenches, flared pea coats and tailored blazers and featured brilliant pops of vibrant reds. The dresses featured the ever popular on trend peplum while most skirts graced knee length and remained flared and/or loose while giving peeks of skin through the sheer fabrics. The trench coats were stunning and featured leather and fur accents, my favourite being the cream trench with black colour blocked along the bottom of the sleeves and the body with fur sitting atop the shoulders. Something things that I didn’t expect to like so much were the emerald monotone look made up of the sleeveless peplum top paired with matching flared, fitted trousers and the figure hugging long red dress. However, I was not a fan of the furry booties that finished off many of the looks but they were easily over looked as the collection as a whole was so lovely.

Overall the collection was a perfect combination of wardrobe essential staples and statement pieces for the every day woman who has flare (which is fitting as it was styled by FLARE’s Fashion Director Liz Cabral.)

  • Chloé comme Parris
  • Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2012

Every season I always look forward to design duo Chloé and Parris Gordon designs for their brand Chloé come Parris. Everything always feels airy and light but with a hard edge which always makes for an interesting collection.

This season saw a dark colour palette of black and charcoal with pops of camel and dreamy light watercolour prints. Most skirts were mid length and pleated and were styled with contrasting heavy leather and suede masculine motorcycle jackets. Oversized knits were heavily featured and made an excellent fall basic. Their trademark use of hardware and studded embelishments were in abundance and trickled down shoulders and sleeves. Evening dresses were completed with either the previously noted motorcycle jacket or a simple trench. Two things that caught my eye were the caged cuffs that were utterly covetable and the cigarette pants had fun slits up the front which will be perfect for showing off statement shoes. Overall Chloé come Parris was a collection full of muted basics that I am sure will have great commercial success.
