From the front row at various fashion weeks around the globe to the inspiration for Mulberry’s latest must have bag, songstress Lana Del Rey is quickly taking over the fashion world. After recently signing with Next Model Management her latest acquisition is an international campaign with H&M. The self dubbed “Self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra“ will lend her signature pout to the Fall 2012 ads that will debut this coming week. Photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s images and film have been described by H&M creative director Donald Schneider as “very L.A. noir”. Chloe Bowers, the Public Relations Manager at H&M stated,

“we were looking for a style icon and singer to model our fall collection and so Lana Del Rey was the perfect choice. The them of the campaign is a modern and feminine woman with a soft attitude. Curves and waist are important in autumn’s silhouette with a focus on knitwear and tweed. The colors include powder tones and accessories in wine red.”

In the meantime while we wait for the campaign in its entirety have a listen to the Fred Falke remix of her latest hit ‘National Anthem’

H&M has teamed up to collaborate with Vogue Japan’s fashion director, Anna Dello Russo to create some widely flashy accessories. The fashion icon, who is widely known for her piled on accessories and unrestrained glamour has designed a collection of bags, shoes, jewellery, sunglasses and more in gold, turquoise and animal motifs for the Swedish retail giant. H&M’s creative adviser, Margareta van den Bosch believes this is truly a match made in heaven:

“Anna has a fantastic eye and a strong taste, apart from being a veritable fashion icon. The collection is a celebration of excess, fantasy and decoration.”

As one can imagine no one is more excited for the opulent collection which hits stores worldwide October 4th than Russo herself:

“I am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M involves a Fashion Director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find.  As a stylist I know accessorization is essential: it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day”,

The collection does not hit stores for a few months but you can satisfy your craving by watching Anna Dello Russo show you her closet and a preview of the collection in the video below.

[Dress: c/o GoJane (here), Shoes: Le Chateau, Ring: H&M, Sunglasses: c/o Romwe (here), Clutch: c/o Hello Parry (here)]
I walked outside this morning and instantly ran back inside and changed into the most summery clothing I could find. Yes, I am majorly jumping the gun, but who cares? Next week it will probably be back to cold weather but for now I am embracing this heat spell with open arms. Yesterday I received this bright yellow clutch in the mail from Hello Parry and fell in love. It is large so it can hold everything and really adds to an outfit.

I have not really posted anything in regards to the Versace x H&M collection because overall I was not a massive fan of it. Yes there were some stand out great pieces but the collection as a whole I found mildly boring.

With that said I love this shoot featuring the collection. The fun, full of movement shoot paired with the orange lips compliments the collection and makes for an editorial that showcases the collection in the best way yet. It also just happens to feature some of the pieces that I actually liked.
