UpClose: Burberry Prorsum fall 2012
Because those bows were just too adorable.
Street Style: Kate Bosworth before the Burberry Prorsum runway show at this years London Fashion Week.
I believe I need more bows in my life.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley arriving at Burberry’s fall 2012 runway show wearing a fantastic pair of flared pants.
Time to take in the exceptional trench coats and jackets that we have come to expect from Burberry Prorsum. The volume and the girly details are to die for.
Preppy, elegant and ladylike are the first three words that came to mind after reviewing the looks from the latest collection from the recent recipient of the BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund prize, Jonathan Saunders. The beginning of the collection was ruled by equestrian inspiration with stiff collars, riding jackets and classic buttoned up shirts. The looks were defused into a modern woman with the heavy use of metallics, pops of bright unexpected colour and the most beautiful floral prints. Colour blocking could be found within most looks separating each piece while still being anchored by brown, green and the loveliest poppy red hues. Saunders made great use of texture on many of the flared skirts and coats playing with tweeds, embossed effects and silks. I cannot wait to see what pieces pop up in street style photos from London Fashion Week next season.
Every season Mulberry tells us a story and if the extravagant fur coat in the first image was any clue, this year creative director Emma Hill was inspired by Where The Wild Things Are and Tim Walker. In regards to the collections inspiration Emma had this to say:
“I’m always obsessed by movies and so we took some of Tim Walker’s The Lost Explorer as well as I wanted it to be really textural with hand knits and different types of fur. We’re a British company so I wanted to make the outerwear really strong. I always think a winter show should actually be for winter”
All of the typical warm fall colours could be found throughout the collection including black, cream, brown and the oh so on trend orange hues. Voluminous coats made of mongolian fur, sheepskin, and rabbit fur were layered over silk dresses with vibrant, kaleidoscopic patterns. Of course that stand out piece among the collection had to be the covetable Del Rey bag named after American songstress Lana Del Rey. When asked about the inspiration behind the bag Mulberry explained:
“Lana has mastered the style of Old Hollywood, mixing it with an edgy sense of fun. This contrast appeals to us: we love mixing eclectic references with classic details in the way that Lana does (alright guys get a room!). The Del Rey bag is infused with this idea, combined with the easy sensibility and English common-sense practicality of our heritage icons.”
I love that this season I am continuously impressed with the beautiful coats that the collections are putting out and Aquascutum is no exception. Strong, structured tailoring could be found throughout the outwear and essentially the entire collection which made it very wearable. All over dark tones including winter white, black, navy, dark grey and taupe. Asymmetrical hemlines, leather elbow gloves, patent paneling and slouchy trousers rounded up the collection. Designer Joanna Sykes has designed a minimalist collection surely to be eaten up by the fashion savvy.
Christopher Kane’s 60’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway show at London Fashion Week.
Let us completely take the hideous shoes out of the mix because aside from the unflattering footwear I am in love with this collection. I always look forward to Christopher Kane every season because the collections always boast such architectural structured designs paired with amazing fabrics. The crisp colour palette juxtaposed grungy and floral prints add an interesting feel to the collection as well.

From the Mulberry Spring/Summer 2012 runway show at London Fashion Week.
Inspired by the retro English seafront, Mulberry’s spring/summer 2012 runway show during London Fashion Week was styled by W‘s new fashion and style director, Edward Enninfu. The collection boasted many shades of yellow, beige, and hunter green alongside neon highlights and mint green injections. Sheer fabrics, animal prints, tweed and glitter were also sprinkled throughout the collection.
