I love that no matter the season, no matter the year, a Valentino garment is so identifiable. The pieces are always ultra feminine, full and perfectly tailored with a keen eye for detail making a woman feel so unbelievably chic and ladylike.
At this years spring 2012 Haute Couture show in Paris sheer cinched waisted cocktail dresses with strategically placed glittery floral embellishments made a prominent statement on the runway. One of my favourite reoccurring looks throughout the collection were the pleated high wasted pants cropped pants which felt very 50s. Lastly I cannot go without paying some sort of attention to the iconic gowns that once again were overflowing with lace, florals, ultra sheer weightless fabrics and crystal embellishments all feeding into Valentino’s classic romanticism.
Once again Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciol have outdone themselves.

Natasha Poly in the absolutely stunning Givenchy Spring 2012 Haute Couture gown that was flown over fresh off the runway for Zoe Saldana to wear to the 2012 SAG Awards. The detailing around the neckline and sleeves is simply devine.
Let us take a moment to admire and appreciate the cinched waists, sheer tops and full, pleated skirts that absolutely dominated the runway during Dior’s Haute Couture Spring 2012 show.
Dior Spring 2012 Haute Couture: The exquisite old hollywood gowns.
Paris Haute Couture week is underway this week and a select audience was treated to Karl Lagerfeld’s first class flight where the likes of Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Kasia Struss played the roll of ultra glamourous stewardesses. Karl’s plane also featured a cockpit from were he emerged at the end of the show as well as emergency exits and a bar cart.
Passengers such as Vanessa Paradis, Daphne Guinness and Cameron Diaz boarded the faux luxury airline, took their seats and were treated to an array of designs that fit right in with the theme at hand. Sequin dresses, jeweled tights and ruche detailing were plentiful while dark shades of blue coated many of the drop waisted garments. One thing I was definitely not along for the ride with? The elaborate punk hair. For his spring 2012 collection for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld had paired his ornate Indian inspired deigns alongside dreadlocked up do’s and somehow it work so well. For me the hair this time around just did not fit the bill and distracted too much from the clothes.
The opulent sets for Chanel’s spring, pre-fall and now haute couture 2012 shows have been so over the top and amazing that I simply cannot wait to see what Karl has up his perfectly tailored sleeves for the fall 2012 show.
