[Bag- Aldo, Sunnies- gift from Romwe.com, Whistle Necklace- gift from Madewell] The weather seems to have finally stopped dipping into cold weather territory (knock on wood) and stepped into warmer weather which means I may soon be able to ditch the sweater when I head out for the day. Time to switch around my closets to reflect this amazing weather and toss out any old items from the winter that I won’t be keeping for the fall. Ps. Thursday night Canada’s own Flare Magazine teamed up with GUESS to throw an exclusive party in celebration of the brands 30th anniversary. The event itself was held at the Queen Street West GUESS store in downtown Toronto where the Lotus Leaf Communications team made sure that everyone was in attendance from bloggers like myself to pro shopaholics and local celebrity faces. My friend Amelia and myself had a great time as the event was fun, lively and had an amazing turnout. Guests sipped on champagne, wine and cocktails that kept flowing as hors d’œuvre’s made their rounds. Music was courtesy of New York based DJ Brendan Fallis and guests were treated to a presentation of the clothes on adorable dolled up models oozing retro charm. Makeup, accessories, earphones and gift cards were given away while purchases were accompanied by gifts including OPI, Smashbox and GUESS products. In addition, 10% of proceeds went towards Canada’s Save the Children foundation. When the evening came to a close the party did not stop there but rather move a few doors down to Cube nightclub for the after party. As previously mention this year marks the 30th anniversary for GUESS and they have in turn released the limited edition capsule collection featuring their most iconic and memorable looks from the past 30 years. The campaign for the collection features the legendary Claudia Schiffer who originally modelled for the brand back in 1989 (the year I was BORN) at 19 years old and now in the same iconic poses 23 years later at 41 and is seemingly ageless. The images were photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth who has also been the photographer on all six campaigns featuring Schiffer. Claudia and Ellen are clearly the perfect choice for this anniversary GUESS campaign in the eyes of GUESS CEO Paul Marciano as he previously stated to WWD, “[Schiffer] was a turning point of GUESS, she was a turning point of Ellen’s career, GUESS was a turning point of a life for Claudia.” The 15-piece collection was inspired by Schiffer and the other former GUESS girls which includes the most adorable daisy capri pants as modelled by Schiffer, jeans with a cut off waist band as seen on Adriana Lima and wide-neck T-shirts featuring images of Line Gost and Anna Nicole Smith.   The collection is available at GUESS stores, Macy’s and at guess1981.com (Photos courtesy of Lotus Leaf Communications)

As many of you may have already heard, this past Thursday news broke that Betsey Johnson LLC, the licensing company that owns the designers stores, has for bankruptcy protection in New York.  The chapter 11 filing essentially allows companies to reorganize when facing bankruptcy and will see most of Betsey Johnson’s 63 stores close within the near future with the exception of some flagship stores and over 350 employees laid off.  Overall this is not surprising after defaulting on a $48 million loan and being bailed out by parent company Steven Madden Ltd. This will not be the end of the designer as she will still serve as creative director for the brand and focus mainly on the mid priced line sold at Macy’s which will also be shown at NYFW this coming September. Now I wonder if this will be showed on her new upcoming reality show because that would definitely make for some interesting television.

I wear collared shirts several times a week and I am always on the hunt for fun ones such as this black sheer shirt with a long back hem and shoulder cut outs. It drapes perfectly down my arms to feel feminine and it truly looks good with everything. Today when I woke up it was a tad chilly so I wore it to class with a pair of high waisted beige pleated trousers and but the time I arrived home it was so hot that I swapped the trousers for my favourite pair of tattered denim shorts.It is still available here if you were interested in purchasing it.  As you all know I have a slight obsession with sunglasses. I do not care what anyone says, you can never have to many pairs and I was happy to get this pair of baroque angular frames in the mail from Romwe.com. I wear collared shirts several times a week and I am always on the hunt for fun ones such as this black sheer shirt with a long back hem and shoulder cut outs. I have received a few dresses from them now and all have been long enough so if you are tall and love the dresses from Lulus then for sure order them, this was just a random case of mini dress being too mini. I fixed the problem by layering it over a skirt I bought from Costablanca probably 9 years ago now. I cannot wait to play around with this pretty piece. I think I may look for a layered light skirt to put underneath when I go out shopping for plain black flats later today. Speaking of which I hate looking for black flats. I have big feet and flats never look as cute as they would on someone with normal sized feet. I also dislike rounded toes and overly pointed ones and I like them to cut low on the toe so all of my pickiness makes it very difficult to find suitable ones. Wish me luck! xx

This mint dress was sent to me from Lulus.com and even though it was far too short for my 6’ self to wear as a dress I still loved it. I have received a few dresses from them now and all have been long enough so if you are tall and love the dresses from Lulus then for sure order them, this was just a random case of mini dress being too mini. Class ended early today which is perfect because:

  1. I was up late last night watching Game of Thrones and had to wake up at 6am
  2.  It got so warm and lovely out so who wants to be stuck in class?

When I arrived home I had a package from Lulus.com waiting for me which made coming home even better. I have always loved Lulus and it has become a daily visit every morning when I wake up to see what pretty new things they have in stock. This top was one of my favourite things I was sent and you better bet that I threw it on as fast as I could. I paired it with my current favourite skirt that seems to find its way onto my body at least once a week as of late. Anyways, if you live around the GTA I hope that you enioy the weather!
