  • Paris Fashion Week Fall 2012

This season Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs for Valentino took on an edgier, tougher vibe juxtaposed the traditional ladylike romanticism that has become synonymous with the fashion house.

The show opened with leather coating skirts and dramatic capes paired with white collared sheer shirts. Sheer and mesh fabrics could also be found throughout on pants and dresses with strategically placed vintage flowers and lace lending the perfect amount of coverage. As the show progressed many red carpet worthy dresses emerged in beige, black, winter white and classic Valentino red, many featuring the most beautifully delicate embroidery. Silhouettes were structured yet fell away from the body, trousers were tailored and blouses were very much refined. Overall the collection was a lovely play on delicate felinity vs. masculinity.

I love that no matter the season, no matter the year, a Valentino garment is so identifiable.  The pieces are always ultra feminine, full and perfectly tailored with a keen eye for detail making a woman feel so unbelievably chic and ladylike.

At this years spring 2012 Haute Couture show in Paris sheer cinched waisted cocktail dresses with strategically placed glittery floral embellishments made a prominent statement on the runway. One of my favourite reoccurring looks throughout the collection were the pleated high wasted pants cropped pants which felt very 50s. Lastly I cannot go without paying some sort of attention to the iconic gowns that once again were overflowing with lace, florals, ultra sheer weightless fabrics and crystal embellishments all feeding into Valentino’s classic romanticism.

Once again Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Picciol have outdone themselves.

Here are some more lovely ladies at tonights SAG Awards since you guys seem to love red carpet looks so much.

  • Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji (has looked amazing thus far during awards season)
  • Michelle Williams in Valentino (uhm, Valentino!)
  • Sofia Vergara in Marchesa (perfectly balanced accessories and I will never get sick of seeing her in a figure hugging dress)
  • Naya Rivera in Naeem Khan (best she has ever looked in my opinion)
  • Ariel Winter in Collette Dinnigan (perfectly age appropriate)
Here are some of my favorite looks from the Red by Valentino spring 2011 collection. As anyone who follows this blog knows I am in love with all things Valentino whether it be his gorgeous iconic gowns or his simple cotton summer dresses. I adore how amazingly girlie and ultra feminine yet romantic these simple pieces are.
And don’t get me started on those bright patent leather wedge espadrilles that the model is wearing in the images. Just looking at them I am itching to raid my moms vintage closet.
